Another chain restaurant which the wife and I do enjoy visiting is Loch Fyne Restaurants.  They do a nice range in fish dishes prepared well with a price that doesn’t break the bank.

The good thing with chain restaurants is that once you’ve found one that you like, you know that you’ll be able to enjoy any of their other restaurants wherever you may be.

Strada for Pizza 4 May 2008

Strada is a surprisingly good “chain” Italian restaurant.  This was only my second visit to them, both times I had pizza, both times it was really good.  The wife tried something different the second time having Guinea Fowl.  It was a good experiment as it allowed us to see if they can prepare non-pizza food to a good standard too.

They did.

Wow.  What a restaurant.  This place has four AA Rosettes, and it so well deserves them.  The food was excellent.  Really excellent!  Service was good too with a generous helping of friendly helpful staff you were never left with your hand in the air trying desperately to get attention.

They cook up a nice breakfast too!

A Special Treat 27 April 2008

Today was the day for my special treat.  We went to Gordon Ramsay’s pub “The Narrow” in Limehouse, London, on the River Thames.  It’s a nice location.  A pretty up-market area, lovely river views and of course a rather expensive Gastro Pub to take your money and make you feel good.

The food was good.  Probably the best “pub food” I’ve had - probably because its not really pub food!

We visited a restaurant called Chapter Two for lunch today.  Its located in the rather upmarket Blackheath in South East London.  We hadn’t booked, and expected to be turned away for that reason - but surprisingly, they were able to fit us in.  Wallet was espacially chuffed as we ordered from the set lunch menu - at a surprisingly good value £15 a head for a three course lunch.  The food was excellent.  Wonderfully presented, good ingredients, cooked with pride and skill and tasked fantastic.

We’ll be back!
